Passive Solar Home
This architectural design is for a passive solar home. The house is oriented toward the south to take advantage of solar heat gain. A solarium was created on the south elevation to admit the maximum amount of light into the space and to harness the heat that accompanies it. This heat is then transferred to the rest of the house through a system of fans. We will be adding solar panels on the south side of the roof for domestic hot water.
This home will be built entirely with ICF's - insulated concrete forms. Not only will this reduce energy costs, but the ICF's will improve this home's indoor air quality, and make the building stronger and quieter.
